Jammu, June 11: Jammu Railway Division of the Northern Railway has announced to temporarily attach one additional third AC coach each in three Delhi-bound trains.

The decision aims at tackling heavy rush of Vaishno Devi pilgrims and other passengers due to summer vacations and trimming long waiting lists vis-à-vis reservations.

“Jammu Railway Division’s decision to temporarily attach one additional Third AC coach each in 3 trains i.e., train numbers 12426, 04082 and 22402, will increase the chances of passengers getting confirmed berths and make their travel more comfortable,” said Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector, Jammu Railway Division.

Detailing about augmentation plan in the trains, Singh said that in Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (train number 12426), additional Third AC coach would be temporarily attached in the existing coach composition from Jammu Tawi from June 13 to 19, 2026.

Similarly, in case of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Special (train number 04082), the coach augmentation will be made from June 16 to 20, 2026 while in case of Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan Express Jammu Tawi- Delhi Sarai Rohilla (train number 22402), one extra third AC coach will be temporarily added from Jammu Tawi from June 16 to 18, 2026.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Jammu Uchit Singhal, while explaining rationale behind the decision, said, “During summers, there is a significant increase in the number of pilgrims travelling for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi yatra besides other passengers traveling for vacations. Due to this, additional rush is being observed in trains. Keeping inconvenience of passengers in mind, Jammu Railway Division has taken this decision of one additional third AC coach each in 3 trains.”

“This step will not only trim the waiting list but will also increase the chances of passengers getting confirmed berths. Passenger safety, convenience and punctual operation have always been the priority of Railways. Based on passenger demand and assessment of rush, this type of service will continue from time to time in future as well,” Singhal informed.

Railway administration has requested all passengers to take advantage of the increased capacity and travel only with a confirmed ticket before their journey. “For reservation, live train status and other information, passengers can contact Railway Helpline No. 139 or use the official IRCTC website and mobile app,” it directed.
