Desh Bhagat University Promotes Punjabi Thought with ‘Punjab Hunn’ Book Launch

Mandi Gobindgarh, August 22: A commemorative event dedicated to Punjabi literature and journalism was organized at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, with the public launch of ‘Punjab Hunn’, authored by renowned journalist, writer and Shiromani Journalist S. Kamaljit Singh Banwait.

The event was graced by Dr. Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University, as the Chief Guest. The presence of S. Harpreet Singh Dardi, Director, Chardikla Group, Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, DBU, Prof. (Dr.) Parvinder Singh, Vice-President, DBU and Roop Kamal Kaur, Legal Officer, Finance Department, Government of Punjab, further added significance to the occasion.

Dr. Ajoy Batta (Liberal Arts), Dr. Harpreet Singh, Dr. Surjit Kaur Patheja, Assistant Director Media Avtar Singh, along with eminent personalities from the fields of literature, media, education and the public sector, participated in the event.

Speakers highlighted and appreciated the contribution of S. Kamaljit Singh Banwait to Punjabi journalism and literature and congratulated him on the publication of ‘Punjab Hunn’.

The dignitaries emphasized that documenting the realities and changing face of contemporary Punjab through meaningful literature and responsible journalism is essential for future generations.

On the occasion, the International Conference on Indian Knowledge Systems was also officially announced. The conference will be held at Desh Bhagat University on December 4 and 5, 2026.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, during which distinguished guests and dignitaries were honoured for their valuable presence and contribution. Dr. Renu Sharma ably performed the role of Stage Secretary, while Dr. Dharmendra Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
