DBU Announces Nepal Sahyog Scholarship 2026 for Students Affected by Natural Disasters
Mandi Gobindgarh, August 31: Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Punjab, has announced the DBU–Nepal Sahyog Scholarship 2026 for Nepalese students, with special provisions for students whose families have been affected by recent natural disasters.
Under the scholarship initiative, eligible students from Nepal will receive a 25 per cent tuition-fee waiver for the entire duration of their programme. Students from partially affected families may be considered for a 50 per cent scholarship, while deserving students from severely affected families may receive up to 100 per cent tuition-fee assistance, subject to verification and the university’s scholarship policy.
DBU President Dr. Sandeep Singh said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that financial hardship or circumstances beyond students’ control do not prevent them from pursuing higher education.
“Education has the power to rebuild lives, restore confidence and create a secure future,” he said, adding that the initiative reflected the university’s solidarity with the people of Nepal and the longstanding ties between India and Nepal.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Kumar Sadawarti said Nepalese students had been an integral part of the DBU community and had contributed to the university’s academic and cultural environment.
He said the scholarship would further strengthen the university’s educational relationship with Nepal. The university, he added, would also provide academic guidance, admission assistance and student-support services to scholarship beneficiaries.
The scholarship covers selected programmes, including B.Tech CSE with Artificial Intelligence, B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, B.Tech Civil Engineering, B.Tech Electrical Engineering, BBA, BCA, MBA, MCA and BHMCT.
Applications are open for the 2026–27 academic session, with the university stating that the number of scholarships is limited.
