J&K Auto Retail Surges 42.84% YoY and 3.1% MoM in August 2026,
Festive Season Expected to Further Boost Demand in J&K
Jammu, 11th September 2026: In J&K for August 2026, the 2-Wheeler category witnessed a growth of 36.28% at 12,579 units in August 2026, as compared to 9,230 units in August 2025.The 3 Wheeler category witnessed a growth of 64.68% at 1,655 units in August 2026, as compared to 1,005 units in August 2025. The Commercial Wheeler category witnessed a growth of 29.23% at 977 units in August 2026, as compared to 756 units in August 2025.The Construction Equipment category witnessed a growth of 116.67% at 39 units in August 2026, as compared to 18 units in August 2025.The Passenger Vehicle category witnessed a Growth of 54.81% at 6,191 units in August 2026, as compared to 3,999 units in August 2025.The Tractor Vehicle category witnessed a growth of 41.63% at 347 units in August 2026, as compared to 245 units in August 2025.
In J&K total retails is 21,788 in August 2026 as compared to15,253 in August 2025 thereby registering a growth of 42.84 %YoY.

Mr Sanjay Aggarwal, Chairperson, Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations J&K said that reflecting on August 2026 Auto Retail performance in J&K, “August 2026 achieved a splendid growth of 42.84 % YoY and about 3.1% MoM .
Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, Chairperson, Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) J&K, said “August has been a very encouraging month for the automobile industry in Jammu & Kashmir. The overall retail growth of 42.84% YoY is a clear indication of strong consumer confidence and improving economic activity across the Union Territory.
Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal said we are particularly encouraged to see that growth has been recorded across all major segments. Passenger Vehicles grew by 54.81%, while 2-Wheelers registered a healthy growth of 36.28%. The strong performance of 3-Wheelers, Commercial Vehicles and Tractors also reflects increasing economic and business activity in the region.
Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, said looking ahead, the automobile industry in Jammu & Kashmir remains optimistic about the coming months, with the upcoming festive season Navratras, Dhanteras, Dhusshera, Diwali and marriage season expected to provide a significant boost to automobile retail.
Mr Aggarwal said that the upcoming festive and marriage seasons are expected to bring renewed momentum to automobile retail in J&K. These periods traditionally witness increased consumer spending and higher demand for personal mobility, particularly in the Passenger Vehicle and 2-Wheeler segments. We are hopeful that the positive sentiment generated during the festive season will translate into stronger retail numbers in the coming months.”
He further added that the marriage season is another important demand driver for the automobile industry, especially for Passenger Vehicles and 2-Wheelers. With customers often planning vehicle purchases around weddings and family occasions, we expect this period to support retail demand. At the same time, Commercial Vehicles and 3-Wheelers should benefit from increased economic and commercial activity during the festive period.”
Mr Aggarwal said that Dealers across J&K are gearing up to cater to the anticipated increase in customer enquiries and footfall. Attractive product offerings, financing options and festive campaigns by manufacturers and dealerships are likely to further support demand. We therefore remain cautiously optimistic that the combination of the festive and marriage seasons can help the industry sustain its positive YoY growth momentum and potentially offset some of the recent month-on-month softness.”
