UDF Bharat Seeks Urgent Intervention Over NOCs for J&K Doctors Applying to AIIMS Awantipora
Srinagar, August 26: The United Doctors Front (UDF) Bharat has urged Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda to intervene in the reported denial of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to doctors serving in Jammu and Kashmir who wish to apply for faculty positions at AIIMS Awantipora.
In a letter dated August 26, UDF Bharat National Vice President and J&K State Incharge Dr Mir Waseem said the organisation had received reports that eligible doctors serving under the J&K Health Services and Health & Medical Education Department were being prevented from applying for faculty posts at the newly established institute.
The organisation said these doctors had served the people of Jammu and Kashmir for years and had fulfilled the required service and eligibility criteria. It argued that they should be allowed to apply and compete for the posts on merit.
“Preventing them from even applying, without providing clear and specific rule-based reasons, is a serious and unacceptable bureaucratic obstruction,” the letter stated.
UDF Bharat further expressed concern that continued exclusion could adversely affect the morale of doctors and the local medical workforce in Jammu and Kashmir. It also questioned whether local doctors were being kept away from regular recruitment opportunities, potentially giving an advantage to candidates from outside the Union Territory.
The organisation has sought the Union Health Minister’s immediate intervention and an impartial examination of the matter. It urged that all eligible J&K doctors be permitted to apply for faculty positions at AIIMS Awantipora without what it termed arbitrary administrative obstruction.
Copies of the representation have also been forwarded to the Union Home Ministry, Ministry of External Affairs, J&K Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, the Director/Competent Authority of AIIMS Awantipora, the Leader of Opposition, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, members of the J&K Legislative Assembly and concerned media organisations.
The UDF representation comes amid growing attention to the recruitment of faculty and strengthening of medical institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
