Kupwara, Aug 02: Shehjaar-i-Adab Lolab, in collaboration with the Civil Society of Shallgund, Kuligam, organised a literary Mehfil-e-Mushaira at the residence of educationist Master Sajad Ahmad Wani, bringing together poets and literary enthusiasts from across the region.
The event was chaired by noted poet Anwar Aajiz, while Maqbool Nadeem conducted the proceedings in presence of the organisation’s Secretary, Khurshid Tabish, who could not hold the the proceedings due to ill health.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Syed Munir Arqam, followed by a Naat-e-Rasool (SAW) presented by Mohammad Maqbool Lolabi.
Introducing the organisation, Rashid Manzoor highlighted the role of Shehjaar-i-Adab Lolab in promoting Kashmiri language, literature and cultural heritage. Addressing the gathering, Anwar Aajiz underscored the significance of literary forums in preserving the Valley’s poetic traditions and encouraging creative expression.
Host Master Sajad Ahmad Wani lauded the efforts of Shehjaar-i-Adab Lolab in organising literary and cultural events. He said such gatherings provide an important platform for writers and poets to address social issues through literature while promoting positive values in society. Wani also expressed satisfaction at hosting the event and hoped similar programmes would continue to be organised in the future.
During the event, members of the organisation also deliberated on various organisational matters and exchanged suggestions regarding the venue and schedule for the next Mushaira.
Poets who presented their compositions included Rashid Manzoor, Maqbool Nadeem, Anwar Aajiz, Ashraf Aadil, Manzoor Mohsin, Bashir Shahid, Mohammad Maqbool Lolabi, Jawad Rasool, Niyaz Janisar, Ghulam Hussain, Syed Munir Arqam, Naeema Siraj, Mehvish Khurshid, Shabnam Altaf and Khurshid Tabish.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a luncheon hosted by Master Sajad Ahmad Wani for the participants and guests.
