CHANDIGARH: The Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association strongly condemns the cowardly and heinous attempt on the life of its former Honorary Secretary, Gagandeep Jammu. The assailants fired gunshots at him with the apparent intention to kill. Thankfully, Shri Jammu sustained no injuries and is currently safe.
Such criminal conduct is an attack not only on an individual lawyer but on the independence, dignity, and fearless functioning of the legal profession as a whole. The Bar Association stands united with Advocate Gagandeep Jammu and his family at this difficult time.
“We demand immediate and decisive action,” said Parampreet Singh Bajwa (Harry), Advocate and Honorary Secretary, Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association, Chandigarh. “We call on the civil administration and police to arrest the perpetrators without delay, to rigorously investigate and prosecute all those responsible, and to provide adequate security to members of the Bar so they may perform their duties without fear or intimidation.” The entire Bar fraternity condemns this act of violence and lawlessness and pledges to stand together to protect the rule of law
