Property of 16 Pak-based terror handlers attached

RAMBAN/REASI, July 30: Police today attached the immovable property of 16 Pakistan-based terror handlers in the districts of Ramban and Reasi wherein 11 such properties were attached in Ramban and the remaining five in Reasi.

Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat has ordered the attachment of 1.7 hectares of land belonging to five terrorists hailing from Reasi district who are now operating from Pakistan.

"DGP Nalin Prabhat has ordered the attachment of properties belonging to five notorious terrorists, now operating from Pakistan," a Police Spokesperson said.

He further informed that the Police also secured proclamation proceedings against Mohammad Qasim, a top Lashkar-e-Toiba operative, who is also operating from Pakistan.

Qasim's property was attached in March this year, the spokesperson added.

Police action in Ramban started after the investigations into the case of FIR No. 10/2024 registered at Police Station Banihal, under the relevant provisions of the Indian Panel Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The attachment proceedings were carried out by cops of Banihal Sub-Division in the presence of the Executive Magistrates and local witnesses.

As per sources a total of 15 Kanals 3 Marlas of immovable property having value of Rs. 90,74,755 approx was attached in Ramban.

The attached properties belonged to terror handlers Mohd Iqbal, son of Gul Mohd Naik, resident of Manjoos Khari and the property included land in Khewat No. 112 measuring (1.15) Kanals having value of Rs. 12,46,700 approx; Farooq Ahmed, son of Ab Rashid Pachoo, resident of Arpinchla Khari and the attached property included land in Khewat No. 197, measuring (3.04) Kanals with a value of Rs. 22,86,080 approx; Bashir Ahmed, son of Gul Mohd Naik, resident of Seran Khari, Banihal and the attached property included land in Khewat No. 116/117/118/119, measuring (1.12) Kanals with value of Rs. 11,43,040 approx; Atta Mohd Khanday, son of Ahmed Khanday, resident of Mangit Khari and the attached property included land in Khewat No. 79 measuring (3.13) Kanals having value of Rs. 18,58,845 approx; Mohd Yaseen, son of Late Ghulam Rasool Katoch, resident of Pogal, Tehsil Pogal Paristan and the attached property included land in Khewat No. 37 measuring (07) Marlas having a value of Rs. 1,75,035 approx; Tariq Hussain, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Pogal, Tehsil Pogal Paristan and the attached property included land in Khewat No. 84 measuring (1.03) Kanals with a value of Rs. 5,75,115 approx; Mohd Rafiq, son of Habibullaha, resident of Neel Zaradi and the attached property included land in Khewat No.07 measuring (13) Marlas having value of Rs. 4,33,485 approx; Muzzafer, son of Abdul Qayoom Naik, resident of Neel Zaradi and the attached property included land in Khewat No.3 measuring (17) Marlas having a value of Rs. 4,70,815 approx; Abdul Qadir Naik, son of Abdul Rashid Naik, resident of Zaradi Batdar and the property included land in Khewat No.03 measuring (01) Kanal having value of Rs. 5,53,900 approx; Mohd Iqbal Wani, son of Ghulam Hussain Wani, resident of Chaka Sarbagni, Ramsoo and the property included land in Khewat No. 02 measuring (06) Marlas having value of Rs. 1,04,760 approx and Abdul Waheed, son of Mohd Yaseen Zargar, resident of Chacka, Ramsoo and the attached property included land in Khewat No. 33 measuring (13) Marlas with a value of Rs. 2,26,980 approx.

Yesterday also Ramban Police attached properties belonging to four such terror handlers.

Meanwhile, Reasi Police has also attached the immovable properties of five Pakistan-based terror handlers under the relevant provisions of BNS, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the E&IMCO Act.

The attachment proceedings were carried out by cops led by SDPO Mahore, Parul Bhardwaj, along with SHO, Police Station Mahore, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Mahore and local witnesses.

The attached immovable properties belonged to Alaf Din, son of Mir Baz alias Mir Baj, resident of Shajroo, Tehsil Mahore (07 Kanals of land); Ghulam Mohd alias Gamma, son of Mohd Yousaf, resident of Shajroo, Mahore (10 Kanals 11 Marlas of land); Mohd Asraf, son of Ab Karim, resident of Chakrass (Mulass), Mahore (17 Marlas of land); Shabir Ahmad, son of Mohd Yousaf, resident of Chakrass (Jamsalan), Mahore (07 Kanals, 03 Marlas of land) and Bihar Din son of Abdul Sattar Chopan, resident of Sildhar (08 Kanals 01 Marla of land).

During investigation, credible evidence was established that the accused in Ramban and Reasi districts had ex-filtrated to Pakistan for terrorist training and are operating as terror handlers from across the border, actively promoting, facilitating and coordinating terrorist activities.

The investigation further revealed that these properties were likely to be alienated, with the proceeds intended to finance and sustain terrorist operations.

Based on these findings, Ramban and Reasi Police, after obtaining the requisite approval from the Police HQ J&K, (Competent authority) attached the properties under the relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, to prevent their misuse for terror financing.
