Hyderabad, Jul 6: Stressing that teachers shape not only the intellect but also the character of their students, Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan inaugurated the month-long Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) at the University's campus on Monday.

The programme is being organized by the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC) to prepare newly appointed faculty members for excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership.

In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor observed that teaching extends well beyond the classroom, as students closely observe and often emulate the conduct, values, and professional ethics of their teachers.

“Remain mindful of your responsibilities, and note that every interaction with students contributes to their intellectual, moral, and personal development. Teachers must therefore lead by example and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and professionalism,” he said.

Highlighting the rapidly evolving landscape of higher education, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of continuous professional development.

He noted that FIP provides valuable opportunities for educators to continually upgrade their knowledge, refine their pedagogical skills, and remain responsive to emerging academic and technological developments.

Prof. Saneem Fatima, Director, UGC-MMTTC, delivered the welcome address. She observed that the programme promotes learner-centric pedagogy, research excellence, ethical academic practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional competence in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Faculty Induction Programme has brought together faculty members from universities and colleges across the country who will interact with eminent academicians and subject experts through lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions on teaching-learning processes, research methodology, educational technology, institutional governance, professional ethics, and other contemporary issues in higher education.

Dr. Meraj Ahmed Mubarki, Associate Professor, noted that the FIP reflects UGC-MMTTC's commitment to nurturing competent, reflective, and future-ready educators through sustained professional development and meaningful academic engagement.
