Inter-Zonal District level competitions underway in Jammu

JAMMU, May 21: The District Youth Services and Sports Office Jammu, under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, organized the Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions in the disciplines of Badminton, Kabaddi, Yoga and Table Tennis at MA Stadium.

The events were conducted under the supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu. In Kabaddi (Girls) U-14 category, Jammu Zone registered impressive victories over Dansal Zone by 36-19, Bhalwal Zone by 18-10 and Bishnah Zone by 24-10. Bhalwal Zone defeated Bishnah Zone by 23-08 and Dansal Zone by 29-20, while Dansal Zone also secured a 26-10 win against Bishnah Zone. Chouki Choura Zone outplayed Satwari Zone by 24-04. Chouki Choura Zone and Satwari Zone were also awarded walkovers against Jourian Zone in the opening round.

In Kabaddi (Girls) U-17 competitions, Khour Zone defeated Marh Zone by 23-20 and later outclassed RS Pura Zone by 36-12. Gandhi Nagar Zone delivered dominant performances by defeating RS Pura Zone by 34-19, Marh Zone by 28-27 and Khour Zone by 33-27. Akhnoor Zone registered convincing wins over Arnia Zone by 32-05 and Miran Sahib Zone by 30-04. Marh Zone bounced back strongly to defeat RS Pura Zone by19-15 and Khour Zone by 37-32, while Arnia Zone outplayed Miran Sahib Zone by 44-26.

In Badminton (Girls) U-17 category, Suhani of Gandhi Nagar Zone defeated Diamond Rajput of Jammu Zone in straight sets 15-06 and 15-06 in the singles event. In doubles, Suhani and Paavni Gupta of Gandhi Nagar Zone dominated Diamond Rajput and Hoonarpreet of Jammu Zone by 15-04 and 15-07 to clinch the overall title for Gandhi Nagar Zone.

In Table Tennis (Girls) U-17 category, Myrah of Gandhi Nagar Zone emerged victorious after defeating Sarishti of the same zone in a thrilling five-set contest 11-09, 09-11, 11-08, 07-11 and 11-09. Kritika of Jammu Zone secured third place by defeating Samaaira of Gandhi Nagar Zone in straight sets 11-09 and 15-11.

In Yoga (Girls) U-14 category, Jammu Zone emerged winner in the Traditional category, Bhalwal Zone clinched the Artistic Solo title, while Gandhi Nagar Zone secured top honours in the Rhythmic Pair category. In Yoga (Girls) U-17 competitions, Jammu Zone lifted titles in both Traditional and Artistic Solo categories, whereas Marh Zone won the Rhythmic Pair event.
