The meeting, likely to be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha along with the top brass of J&K Police and civil administration, will be aimed at assessing synergised operational readiness, robustness and resilience of civil and security agencies to ensure “peaceful and incident-free yatra.”
To meet this objective, the Ministry of Home Affairs has already sanctioned for J&K the highest number of 670 companies of para-military forces, to be deployed with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies along the Yatra route.
Annual pilgrimage will conclude on August 28, 2026.

It may be followed by similar high-profile exercises, security drills and visits of MHA officials to review facilities on twin Yatra tracks in Kashmir besides other critical aspects, predominantly security arrangements.

Deliberations are likely to revolve around anti-terrorist operations; anti-infiltration measures amid anticipated heightened activities from across the border. Besides the rise in infiltration attempts, a volatile situation in PoJK has added to security dimensions.
“The top brass of security agencies and civil administration will brief the Union Home Minister about the fast-changing security scenario, preparations underway and already undertaken to ensure impregnable security grid besides logistics, amenities for pilgrims and other infrastructure for safe, smooth and secure Yatra,” sources mention.
