JAMMU, May 20: The District Youth Services and Sports Office Jammu, under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, organized Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions in Kabaddi, Wrestling, Yoga, Table Tennis and Badminton at MA Stadium and the University of Jammu, drawing participation from more than 500 young athletes.
In Kabaddi (Boys) U-14, Miran Sahib Zone defeated Jourian Zone by 33-20 points to lift the title, while Jammu Zone secured third place by defeating Akhnoor Zone. In Kabaddi (Boys) U-17, Jourian Zone outplayed Jammu Zone by 35-25 points to emerge winners, while Khour Zone secured third place against Miran Sahib Zone.
In Table Tennis (Girls) U-14, Syrah of Gandhi Nagar Zone defeated Ridhima of Jammu Zone in a thrilling best-of-five final by 11-09, 07-11, 14-12, 06-11 and 11-05. Alina of Jammu Zone clinched third place. In Table Tennis (Girls) U-17, Myrah of Gandhi Nagar Zone defeated Kritika of Jammu Zone by 11-09, 07-11 and 11-06 in the semifinal to enter the final, while Srishti of Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Samaaira in straight sets 11-02 and 11-03 to qualify for the title clash.
In Badminton (Girls) U-17, Jammu, Akhnoor, Gandhi Nagar and Satwari Zones qualified for the semifinals. In Badminton (Girls) U-14, Gandhi Nagar Zone will face Jourian Zone, while Dansal Zone will take on Jammu Zone in the semifinals.
In Wrestling (Girls) U-14, Bheemi Bharti of Bhalwal Zone won the under-39 kg category, Diksha Kumari won the 42 kg category, Rubia emerged victorious in 46 kg, and Mahi Mehra clinched the 50 kg title.
In Wrestling (Girls) U-17, Tanvi Thakur won the under-40 kg category, Reema Bhagat claimed the 43 kg title, Brinda Devi secured first place in 46 kg, Priti Devi of R.S. Pura Zone won the 49 kg category, Bhoomi Chib clinched the 53 kg title, Simran Devi emerged victorious in 61 kg, and Pihu Sharma won the 65 kg category. In Yoga competitions for U-14 and U-17 categories, semifinal and final events in different disciplines will be conducted tomorrow.
