DBU Startup Summit Ignites Innovation and Entrepreneurial Spirit Among Pharmacy Students
Mandi Gobindgarh, August 12: Desh Bhagat University (DBU) organised a two-day Startup Summit aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and startup development among students. The programme was organised by the Placebo Club, Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and IQAC, Desh Bhagat University.
The summit featured expert sessions, interactive discussions and mentorship-oriented guidance to help students transform innovative ideas into practical projects, prototypes and potential entrepreneurial ventures.
On the first day, Mr. Abhishek Mehta, Robotics and Innovation Educator, Trainer and Mentor, delivered an insightful session on robotics, emerging technologies, innovation, ideation and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to move beyond being mere users of technology and develop themselves as creators, innovators and problem-solvers. He also shared practical insights into transforming an initial idea into a working prototype and subsequently developing it into an impactful innovation or startup.
The second day featured an expert session by Dr. Tulika Mehta, Founder Director, Kaizen Systems, an experienced entrepreneur, innovation mentor and technology professional. She guided students on idea generation, technology adoption, entrepreneurship and the startup journey. She encouraged participants to identify real-world problems, develop innovative solutions and explore opportunities to transform their ideas into viable products and technology-driven ventures.
The interactive sessions provided students with valuable exposure to the startup ecosystem, emerging technologies, mentorship opportunities and the practical aspects of developing innovative ideas. The programme also encouraged students to cultivate a creative and entrepreneurial mindset and explore solutions to real-world challenges.
The summit resulted in enhanced awareness of startup opportunities, improved understanding of ideation and product development, exposure to emerging technologies, and valuable interaction with experts and mentors. Students were motivated to explore entrepreneurship and develop innovative solutions with potential for future startup ventures.
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Sadawarti congratulated the Faculty of Pharmacy and the organising team for conducting the impactful programme. They appreciated the efforts of the faculty members and encouraged them to continue organising innovative and industry-oriented initiatives for the holistic development of students.
