Mandi Gobindgarh, July 8: Desh Bhagat University (DBU) inaugurated the Centre for Advanced Data Analytics (CADA) under its Research Cell, marking a major step to strengthen the university’s research ecosystem and support evidence‑based scholarship across disciplines.
The Centre was formally opened by Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Gurdip Singh Batra, Pro Vice Chancellor (Research & Development), who described CADA as a significant milestone in enhancing the quality, credibility and global impact of research at the University.
Dr. Harsh Sadawarti said data‑driven research is now the cornerstone of high‑quality academic publications worldwide. “Modern research demands scientifically validated analysis, accurate interpretation and the application of advanced statistical techniques,” he noted. “CADA will equip our researchers to produce rigorous, evidence‑based work and improve the University’s presence in Scopus‑indexed and other reputed international journals.” He congratulated the Research Cell for this initiative and urged faculty and research scholars to fully utilize the Centre’s facilities.
Prof. (Dr.) Gurdip Singh Batra outlined the Centre’s role in providing comprehensive analytical support across disciplines. “Researchers will receive assistance in research design, statistical analysis, interpretation, data visualization and the use of advanced analytical tools on both commercial and open‑source platforms, including Python,” he said. He added that CADA will foster interdisciplinary research through predictive modelling, machine learning and advanced statistical techniques, thereby enhancing the international acceptance and impact of DBU research.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor of DBU, lauded the launch of the Centre for Advanced Data Analytics as a major initiative to enhance research excellence and foster advanced data-driven innovation.
CADA will serve Ph.D. scholars, postgraduate students preparing dissertations, faculty members and principal investigators of funded projects. Services include expert guidance in dataset preparation, selection of appropriate statistical methods, data analysis, interpretation of results and presentation of findings in line with international standards.
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Ajoy Batta, Dean, Research & Development Cell and Dean, School of Liberal Arts; Dr. Naveen Thakur, Director (Academics); Dr. G. P. S. Bakshi, Assistant Dean (Academic Affairs); Dr. Parvin Kumar, Controller of Examinations; Dr. H. K. Sidhu, Director, School of Agriculture; Dr. Precious Sheoran, Director, Faculty of Education; Mr. Naresh Kumar, Manager (Human Resources); Mr. Avtar Singh, Assistant Director (Media); along with directors of various schools and departments, faculty members and university officials. Attendees lauded the Centre as a valuable addition to DBU’s research infrastructure that will deliver professional support in data analytics and statistical modelling while promoting innovative, high‑quality and impactful research.
