Srinagar, July 30: Northern Railway has extended the cancellation of three passenger train services operating on the Banihal–Budgam–Baramulla section until August 14, 2026, to facilitate scheduled track maintenance aimed at enhancing the safety and reliability of rail operations.
According to a notice issued by the Office of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Jammu, the affected services will remain suspended from July 31 to August 14 (JCO) to enable pre-BCM high-temperature destressing of Long Welded Rails (LWR) on the Banihal–Baramulla section.
The suspended services include Train No. 74615 (Banihal–Baramulla), Train No. 74632 (Baramulla–Budgam), and Train No. 74628 (Budgam–Banihal).
With the extension of the cancellation, the 10:50 a.m. Banihal–Baramulla passenger service, which is widely used by daily commuters, students, and office-goers travelling between Banihal and various stations across the Kashmir Valley, will continue to remain off the tracks during the maintenance period.
Railway officials said the extension was necessary to complete the planned rail destressing and track maintenance works, which are crucial for ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of train services on the section.
Passengers have been advised to make alternative travel arrangements and verify the latest train schedules before undertaking their journeys to avoid inconvenience.
